full_color_solitaire_separator_black_top_1200x10.pngWe went to extraordinary lengths to make sure the app was accessible to billions of people around the globe by translating it into 49 different languages.  Being able to play the games in your native language is one of the most important things to us.

Now we know that there is no way on earth it will perfect on the first release but we hope that you will help us get it there.

We have made a special dedicated ticket page to ask for community support to help us "Fix Our Translations".  More importantly we hope to find brand ambassadors from each country around the world that wants to actually help us translate the entire language in their own native format so we can update the app as quickly as possible to get it right!

For whatever it's worth, game development is far more complicate than it appears.  Just like geosynchronous orbit for a satellite that makes our cell phones work in the middle of the jungle.  We as consumers are just conditioned to think everything is a bowl of Rice Krispies and it's just "Snap, Crackle, Pop" and it works.  Sadly it's not true, but it is a nice fairy tale invented by one of Walt Disney's second cousins!

Back to seriousness, as hard as it may be to believe, we have over 4,000 hours time into the language strings alone.  We went to the extreme to translate the app because it is the first time in the history that an entirely new universal deck of playing cards has ever been invented, and we want to make sure it reaches th entire world and it will not, if it is not translated into everyone's local, native language.

So for those that are interest in helping us fix the translations, here is an insight as to why it is so difficult.

Pixels and vector based graphics (object oriented drawn by math vs. Red / Green / Blue square pixels) are not friends of each other.  Vector based graphics we can change in code on the fly, scale up and down without losing quality.  Pixels, are like a baked cake. You can't add more eggs or take away sugar out of a baked cake if it doesn't taste right.  You have to get it right from the get go.  The app is made up of both.  The reason is you can't get vector graphics to land exactly where you want all the time when you mix multiple types of software code which is, in English is adding an electric engine and a gas engine together. Hybrids can be done, but they are still two different engines driving the "app" vehicle.  So we have old engines and new engines in the same app.  That's just the way it is.

The app is made up of fix graphics and automatic string generated translations. This means that 50% of the app requires a graphics designer to actually write the text in a program, be it Photoshop or Illustrator, then output it to video or animated gif editors and then put them through specialized compressor software, then assemble them in what are called sprite sheets, and then output again, then added into the XCODE software from Apple then output.  This is no easy feat. There are thousands of images in the app as hard as it may be to believe, it is true and that is why it takes so long to make changes.  Even after your changes are done, you still have to output it to Apple App Store, go through their approval process and then update everything else, from this Support and Help website article to marketing and promotional materials.

The other process is the localized strings process that runs in what you may know as an Excel spreadsheet type of format but run through a highly customized and sophisticated program called Linguan (which is our lifesaver) that then cause XCODE to generate the text "on the fly" anywhere in the app.  This is the modern way of doing things but requires an entirely different type of software engine build, which is like reinventing the wheel.  No easy feat. So if you want to know why it is so hard to do it, or why it takes so long, we hope that gives you a little bit of an insight to it all.  Do it once, do it right and never do it again is clearly the objective.  We aren't perfect in anyway shape or form in the languages, but we hope you'll understand and help us get it there!

If you are interested in helping us perfect the language translations, please feel free to send us a ticket request and let's see what magic we can make together! In any event, if you got this far, we love you for taking the time to read and care!
